Gawr Gura, a founding member of Hololive’s English-speaking division Hololive English, will be graduating this May 1. The announcement was made via a YouTube livestream on her channel, followed by an official statement from the VTuber agency.
In the announcement stream, she shared that her decision to graduate was mainly due to disagreements with the agency’s management and the company’s current direction, but also thanked her fans and fellow talents for their continuous support throughout the five years of her career.

In their follow-up statement, Hololive also thanked Gura’s fans for their support, and added that their fan letters will be accepted until May 1, while membership content will be available until August 1. Announcements regarding Gura’s merchandise will be shared at a later date.
Gawr Gura is one of the world’s most popular VTubers, currently holding the title of the most-subscribed VTuber on YouTube at over 4.5 million subscribers. Since her debut in 2020, she has participated in many high-profile brand collaborations that helped to promote VTubing to new audiences, including a landmark collaboration with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024, where she performed at the iconic Dodger Stadium.
Her graduation follows a string of recent graduations from the agency, with Murasaki Shion and Nanashi Mumei also set to officially graduate on April 26 and 28 respectively.
Gura’s fellow Hololive English founding member Amelia Watson announced her departure from the agency in late 2024, but has remained as an ‘affiliate’, which allows for the possibility of returning for special events.
