The remastered edition of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, originally released in 2002, is set to launch on 23 May 2025, with digital pre-orders now available across various platforms. This enhanced version includes new features, exciting bonuses, and a special bundle with the first instalment, Onimusha: Warlords.
The remaster is now enhanced with new features and improved playability. This includes high definition upgrades for 3D character models, visual effects, CG cutscenes, backgrounds, UI, and fonts. There are also several other tweaks to the original game:
- Easy mode is now available by default for players who just want to enjoy the story.
- All cutscenes can now be skipped from the start.
- Added auto-save feature.
- Weapons can be swapped without having to open the menu.
- Players can also switch between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios on the fly during gameplay.
The remaster also adds Hell Mode, an extremely difficult mode where you die in a single hit. This basically renders recovery items useless, so every battle becomes an intense struggle for survival. If you’ve already completed the game on “Hard” and “Critical” this could be a nice new challenge!
If you pre-order “Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny” or obtain the “Onimusha 1+2 Pack” early,
you’ll receive the “Onimusha 2: Orchestra Album Selection Pack,” containing a select few
tracks from the Orchestra Album as well as a useful item pack.

The Item Pack contains items that should prove especially useful for players who aren’t very confident at action games. It includes 3 herbs, 2 medicines, 1 secret medicine, 2 super magic liquids, 1 perfect medicine, 1 talisman, and 10,000 red Souls.
If you have save data for Onimusha: Warlords, you can also get the Samanosuke Outfit for
Jubei, based on Samanosuke Akechi, the main character of the first game.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be released on 23 May 2025 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam for PC, ahead of the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.
