TGV Cinemas will be screening the anime film Look Back this September 12th in Malaysia. The film was originally planned to premiere on August 15th, with TGV Cinemas announcing the date change earlier today. They will also be organising a fan screening of the film.
Look Back is based on a one-shot manga by Chainsaw Man’s creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, which originally debuted on Shounen Jump+ in July 2021, and hit over 2.1 million views on the first day.
Its story follows the overly confident Fujino and the shut-in Kyomoto, who couldn’t be more different, but a love of drawing manga brings these two small-town girls together. The one-shot is a poignant story about growing up and moving forward.
The title won the first Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards and was also nominated for an Eisner Award last year. It also won second place at the 15th manga Taisho awards.
The film adaptation opened in theatres in Japan on June 28th, 2024 and screened in Indonesia later on July 31st, 2024. The film also features a theme song titled “Light song” by composer haruka nakamura and singer urara.
