Women In Games Asia Chapter Launches Mentorship Programme

Women In Games Asia Chapter recently announced the launch of its mentorship programme at the Careers, Development & Networking Expo during the ‘Mentorship and its Real World Value’ panel session.

Founded in 2009, Women In Games is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks a games industry, culture, and community free of gender discrimination. The organisation believes that getting more women into games and esports should be framed as a national, international and strategic priority, a business case for stronger teams, better insights, innovative new products.

During the panel session, WIGA Leadership team member Aisyah Ambok supported by Luna Javier and Kah Hui Teo introduced the mentorship programme, its intended structure, and also highlighted the benefits of a mentorship programme for both mentors and mentees in the current industry climate.

While the exact launch date of the programme has yet to be determined, WIG Asia aims for a Q4 2024 launch and a three-month long programme to better help women and other marginalised people gain better skills, networking opportunities, and chances for growth while navigating their careers within the industry.

Nissie Arcega, WIG Ambassador from Indie Games Group (IGG) Philippines, will also be supporting the programme with her expertise and network by reaching out to games communities throughout the Southeast Asian region.
