Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of anime, cosplay and gaming at Jom Otaku Matsuri! Taking place at Da Men Mall this 20th and 21st May, the event will feature a variety of attractions for fans of all things otaku.
Featuring everything from cosplay competitions and workshops, to card game tournaments and performances, there’s bound to be something for everyone at JOM. Keep reading to learn more!
Competitions
Cosplay is set to be a major highlight at JOM, with the event featuring not just one but three different cosplay competitions – the Hijab Cosplay Competition, 60 Seconds Solo Skit Cosplay Competition and the Kids Cosplay Competition. Each competition will be judged by a panel of experts from the cosplay community, and every contestant stands a chance to receive some great prizes and recognition for their hard work.
Aside from the cosplay competition, participants can also show off their dance moves in JOM’s Dance Competition, where they’ll be judged by experienced dance group Team Subarashii from Project Coser.
If card games are your thing, then you’ll want to sign up for Ministry of Hobbies’ Cardfight Vanguard and Magic: The Gathering card game tournaments. You might just take home some amazing prizes, including a chance to win a trip to Japan!
Stage Activities
If you’re looking to learn something new at the event, JOM will also offer workshops and talks on all kinds of cosplay-related topics, including a cosplay panel by Team SiD, the 2022 Malaysian representatives for Pop Culture Hiroshima, and a hijab cosplay workshop from Capries Ryn.
That’s not all, as a slew of talented performers will also be lighting up the stage all weekend with a variety of different acts. You won’t want to miss out on these exciting stage sessions!
On-Ground Attractions
No ACG event would be complete without a trip to the artist alley, and JOM is set to be a trip to remember, with over 70 different artist and cosplay booths located across 3 different levels of the mall. You’ll be able to browse through a variety of fan-made artwork, handmade crafts, and cosplay merchandise from experienced creators and new faces alike.
Need a break from all the excitement? Grab a bite to eat and even snag a chance to play some games with the maids at the event’s maid cafe, organised by Her Majesty’s Mansion.
Fujii Kaze Album Giveaway
Last but certainly not least, Jom Otaku Matsuri has teamed up with Universal Music Malaysia to give 10 lucky attendees a chance to win an album from Japanese musician Fujii Kaze! Just scan the QR codes placed around the event venue to be in the running for this giveaway.
