Yesterday, USA Today released the first official images from ‘Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck It Ralph 2’, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 animated movie ‘Wreck-It Ralph’.
The story follows our favourite duo, Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz, on a race against the clock to find a replacement part for Sugar Rush before Vanellope’s game gets shut down – and what better place to search than on the Internet?
The new images give us our first glimpse at Taraji P. Henson’s new character, a snooty Internet aficionado named Yesss, as well as Alan Tudyk’s character, a know-it-all search engine named KnowsMore. Both guide our main characters along their quest, facing challenges, Internet memes, and spam mail on the way.
While Vanellope is younger and quickly adapts to this strange new world, Ralph resembles Gen X-ers in his simultaneous amazement and befuddlement. According to director Phil Johnston, it was their intention to highlight their differences in generation as a mirror to reality. “Every different person has a different experience with the Internet, regardless of age, and we felt it was a ripe world to push the boundaries of their friendship,” he said.
The movie also teases plenty of Internet and Disney-inspired Easter eggs, the first of which is a scene where Vanellope meets her fellow Disney Princesses. Now, our question is: Is Yesss going to be a Disney Princess too?
