‘End of Ember’ Playtest to Close on December 6 Ahead of Upcoming New Demo

Bad Plan Studios and Rising Tide have announced that the End of Ember playtest will close on December 6, 2026, marking the end of its current build as the developers work towards a revamped version of the game.

The free playtest is available on Steam for Windows PC and will remain accessible throughout the Steam Scream V Fest, running from October 26 to November 2. Players will have until December 6 to experience the current version before it is taken offline.

The developers are currently rebuilding the game towards what they describe as its “Final Form”. A new demo is also planned for Q1 2027, although further details have yet to be announced.

A Chainsaw-Gun-Fuelled Trip Through Hell

End of Ember follows Ember, who is accidentally sent to Hell on her birthday. Armed with Abe, a talking chainsaw-gun powered by hatred, players must fight through rooms filled with demons and traps.

The game features twin-stick combat, weapon mutations and a progression system built around collecting teeth and cursed items. Players can spend teeth on weapons, bombs and other items, while hatred can be used at Mutators to transform Abe into different weapon forms. Cursed items provide upgrades to weapons and bombs ahead of challenging boss encounters.

The End of Ember playtest is free to access on Steam until December 6, 2026. Players can also wishlist the game and follow Bad Plan Studios and Rising Tide for updates on the upcoming demo.
