Dinosaur FPS ‘Athanasia’ Enters Steam Early Access

Immersive first-person shooter Athanasia is now available in Steam Early Access for US$15.99, with a 10% launch discount. Developed by Momentum Games and published by Black Lantern Collective, the game is inspired by titles such as System Shock and Dino Crisis.

The Early Access version includes the first half of the game, featuring multiple areas to explore, weapons, tools, and prehistoric creatures.

Survive the Abandoned Research Station

Players take on the role of Carmen Flores, who is dropped off by helicopter at an abandoned research station in the jungles of South America. The facility has been overrun by dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, leaving Carmen to navigate its tunnels and blood-soaked laboratories while uncovering what happened.

Exploration and experimentation are central to progression. While some obstacles require keycards, others can be overcome by restoring power, using a crowbar, or crafting improvised solutions such as Molotov cocktails.

Players can also use ventilation shafts to sneak around dangerous creatures and find alternative routes through the facility. Maps must be discovered by searching the research station. Once found, players can annotate them with their own markings to track locked doors, supplies, enemy locations, and other points of interest.

Weapons, Traps and Environmental Hazards

Athanasia’s combat focuses on making use of whatever resources players can find. Carmen begins with a knife before gaining access to weapons such as a crossbow and other equipment.

The environment can also be used to survive encounters. Players can deploy traps, use meat to lure creatures away, and even activate self-destruct functions on certain PCs to deal with threats.

Alongside exploration and combat, the game features crafting, stealth, environmental interaction, and resource management.

Athanasia is available now on PC via Steam Early Access for US$15.99 / £14.49 / €16.49, with a 10% launch discount.
