Introduction

This season is packed with a lot of great shows and sequels. One of them is Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory. It is a continuation from the Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid which aired 13 years ago and has finally aired after such a long wait. The sequel follows the story of Sousuke Sagara, a soldier for Mithril who must protect Kaname Chidori as she is a gifted person from Amalgam. Sagara and the team of Mithril have thwarted all Amalgams efforts, but they have now upped their game and now threaten a global apocalypse. How will Sagara and Chidori respond to the threat?

Thoughts

It has been such a long time since the last Full Metal Panic! show that any casual anime viewer would be slightly confused on what is actually happening, especially since this show starts off with a bang. For those who are unfamiliar with the story, it combines a lot of military elements in a sci-fi setting with a tad bit of high school and some comedic nonsense, usually coming from Sagara’s perspective as he is a military personal and not a high school student. There is so much going on in terms of themes but it all fits together to become a hard hitting show.

In the first couple of episodes it gets really grim as Amalgam begins its worldwide terrorism with the sole purpose of capturing Kaname Chidori who is considered a Whispered, people who are capable of creating technology far more advanced than what seems possible in the present timeline, and also far more special than any other human being. Leonard Testorossa is a sharp minded leader and will use anything at his disposal to get what he wants; in this case he wants to get a hold of Chidori’s powers.

The most affected person in the show at this point of time is Chidori as she has to come with the realization of war in front of her as she gets shot by multiple enemies. At the same time, watch other people suffer and die as a direct effect of that. Even her friends are not spared as they also become casualties of war.

Sagara on the other hand has to do so many things to protect Chidori. He also must realise that he also wants to protect the way of life at Jindai Municipal High School and must do what he can to protect his friends.

Verdict

This show has become a lot darker than the previous seasons, with the exception of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu which is a slice of life comedic season. This show promises to bring much heartache, and also great action coupled with a great story telling the times of war. We shall see if Sagara is able to protect Chidori and stop Amalgams threats.
