Developer GD Studio is celebrating the first anniversary of cozy organizing and decorating game Whisper of the House with the release of its largest free update yet, Summer Whispers.
Available now on Steam, the free DLC introduces new residents, activities, furniture and customization options. The game is also receiving a 20% anniversary discount on Steam from August 27 to September 9, 2026.
Meet Four New Residents
Summer Whispers introduces four new residents, each bringing their own storylines and decorating challenges.
Players can help A-Rin create a cozy home inspired by travel photography, assist Bobo in restoring a riverside campsite using items recovered from the water, organize Captain Lacy’s collection of treasures gathered during years of travel, and furnish Marni Jr.’s extravagant luxury villa complete with an infinity pool, sports car and personal rocket.
The expansion adds more than 340 new obtainable items across four aesthetic styles, ranging from outdoor survival equipment and everyday furnishings to collector pieces and retro-futuristic luxury decorations.
Fishing and Summer BBQs Join the Town
A new fishing activity allows players to join Bobo at the lighthouse and fish across different environments, including oceans, rivers, ponds and parks. There are 15 aquatic species to discover, along with the rare legendary Starry Eye.
Players can also unlock nightly summer BBQ parties after completing Marni Jr.’s request. Starting at 6pm, residents will gather for BBQs where players can prepare their favorite dishes and earn 16 exclusive furniture rewards inspired by the town’s residents.
More Ways to Customize the Town
The update also expands the game’s existing systems:
- Players who have completed the main story can now use the Seasonal Town Selector to switch between four town themes: Everyday, Snow King Festival, Spring Festival and Summer. Seasonal event rewards can also be unlocked through the different themes.
- The Ideal Home Showroom has been expanded to 20 room layouts and now includes 18 additional design tasks, bringing the total to 50. Six new flooring styles and seven wallpaper options have also been added.
- Meanwhile, residents who have completed their respective quests will now explore the town at different times of day, creating new encounters and additional story conversations.
Summer Whispers Available Now on Steam
The Summer Whispers DLC is available for free to all Whisper of the House owners on Steam. A Nintendo Switch version is also in the works, with its release date to be announced at a later time.
