The staff behind the anime adaptation of Rent-A-Girlfriend have officially announced that the series will return for a sixth season. The upcoming installment is set to adapt the manga’s highly anticipated Cohabitation Arc, continuing Kazuya and Chizuru’s evolving relationship.
The announcement arrives shortly after Season 5 concluded, with its final episode airing this week. Character designer Kanna Hirayama also celebrated the news by sharing a special commemorative illustration.
The anime first premiered in 2020, and has since become one of the most recognizable romantic comedy series of the decade. The franchise has continued to expand through multiple anime seasons, a live-action drama adaptation released in 2022, and the ongoing manga serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine.
Created by Reiji Miyajima, the story follows college student Kazuya Kinoshita, who turns to a rental girlfriend service after a painful breakup and meets the seemingly perfect Chizuru Mizuhara. What begins as a transactional relationship gradually develops into a complicated and emotional romance filled with misunderstandings, personal growth, and heartfelt moments.
