HoYoverse today announced that Genshin Impact Version Luna VIII, “Sunny Summer Fontinalia,” will launch on July 1. In this update, players will reunite with Sandrone, who makes an unexpected return after sacrificing herself in the fierce battle of Nod-Krai. Meanwhile, beyond the skies of Teyvat, the Frost Moon will become available as a permanent new area, inviting players to explore its vast and breathtaking landscapes.
New Character
Sandrone, the Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers arrives alongside the new Stellar-Conduct reaction, a Cryo-Electro mechanic that creates a Polestar Field, boosting Cryo, Electro, and Stellar-Conduct damage while reducing enemies’ Physical Resistance. Sandrone can further enhance this reaction through her autonomous construct, Fagio, making her a key character in the new combat system.
Character banners will feature Sandrone and Citlali in the first phase, followed by Columbina and Raiden Shogun in the second phase.
New Region
The update also takes players beyond Teyvat for the first time, allowing them to explore the Moon, a vast new region filled with unique landmarks, including a luminous lunar sea, a space station overlooking Teyvat, and ancient ruins connected to the dragon race.
Players will gain access to new gravity-based traversal mechanics, while both the Moon and Teyvat maps will receive an upgraded layered display feature to improve navigation and exploration.
Gameplay Updates
Version Luna VIII will also introduce the permanent Fontinalia Film Festival event in Fontaine, where familiar characters such as Charlotte, Citlali, Columbina, and Sandrone gather for a midsummer celebration.
Players can participate in festival activities, manage an aquarium, and earn rewards including a free copy of Charlotte and a brand-new outfit for her. Additionally, Citlali will receive a new outfit available at a limited-time discount.
The update further expands gameplay with new Natlan activities, additional Genius Invokation TCG cards, new music content, and a summer-themed refresh for Miliastra Wonderland featuring free rewards, cosmetic items, and enhanced creator tools.
