‘Demon Lord: Just A Block’ Is A Roguelite That Only Moves When The Player Does

Demon Lord: Just A Block, the turn-based roguelite from developer YuWave and publisher Skystone Games, is out now on Steam.

In the game, you rise from the dead as the head of a decapitated Demon Lord. Set out to reclaim the throne after being usurped by the Black Dragon Queen Heyla. Reunite with old allies and reveal who sealed away the Demon Lord in the first place. But there’s a twist: the world only moves when the player does.

Plan attacks step-by-step with thoughtful strategies, OR move like a bat out of hell, dodging and parrying enemy attacks with lightning-fast reflexes in tight, satisfying combat. Whether slow and methodical or high risk, high reward, move through this cute cartoon fantasy world at whatever pace feels right. Simply collide with foes to attack, and look for visual cues to avoid theirs.

Fight against slippery slimes, man-eating plants, and giant jumping spiders in grid-based combat. Mix and match 14 different weapons, 10 archetypes, and 200 abilities in a flexible build system with thousands of combinations. Fire away with the Eyeball Blaster or wield the Hero’s Greatsword. Summon an army of Bats or litter the world with Bombs. Choose Turtle Tactics to trade offense for defense, or Shed-shell Tactics for the opposite.

Take on gargantuan enemies fit for a Demon Lord where no two bosses are the same. Each introduces a unique mechanic inspired by classic arcade puzzlers. Discover fresh surprises in procedurally generated levels where every choice matters, leading to different endings.
