The July edition of Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine has announced that Shikiji Sorakura will debut a new spinoff manga for the Bungō Stray Dogs franchise in the publication’s upcoming issue, set to release on July 3.
This forthcoming series will adapt “Dazai o Hirotta Hi” (The Day I Took In Dazai)—a bonus novel originally handed out to moviegoers who attended the 2022 live-action film Bungō Stray Dogs the Movie: Beast.
The flagship Bungō Stray Dogs manga, created by Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa, has been running in Young Ace since December 2012, with its first part wrapping up on March 4. Kadokawa released the 28th compiled volume on March 26, while Yen Press put out the 26th English volume on January 20.
On the anime front, the inaugural TV season broadcast from April to June 2016, followed by a 12-episode second season from October to December of that same year. Season three premiered in April 2019, with season four following in January 2023 and season five running from July to September 2023. The franchise’s Dead Apple anime film opened in Japanese cinemas in March 2018.
Elsewhere in the franchise, Kanaineko’s spinoff Bungo Stray Dogs: Wan! (Ruff!) began serialization on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up! website in December 2015 and has since amassed 14 volumes.
