‘DDD: Dice, Dungeons & Drakes’ Is A Dice Battle Game, Just Not The Way You Think

Developed by Malaysian-made Mighty Eden Studio, DDD: Dice, Dungeons & Drakes aims to break traditional genre boundaries by fusing tactile board-wargame combat with seamless open-world exploration.

Inspired by classic card-battle anime culture (think Yu-Gi-Oh!), DDD places players into a high-stakes tournament world where tactical battle choices permanently reshape the physical environments around them.

You play as Eden, a tenacious 16-year-old duelist navigating the brutal ranks of the global Hunter’s Tournament on a high-stakes quest to track down his missing mentor. To reach the prestigious Top 16, Eden must out-manoeuvre the ruthless, tech-driven DDD Corporation and their prehistoric “Ancient Legion” before they shatter the ancient Trinity Seal.

The game features a dice-to-tile unfolding system where players throw intricate, geometric summoning dice onto a hexagonal grid. Upon landing, the dice unfolds and breaks down into six continuous path tiles, organically building the battlefield geography to deploy legendary monsters and drakes.

In DDD, the battlefield is the world. When a battle triggers, a tabletop combat grid locks directly onto the exact physical open-world coordinates. Actions taken during tactical duels also have lasting consequences on the world around you. If a player sets a forest ablaze to defeat an enemy during a match, that actual open-world forest area remains permanently burnt when they return to exploration mode.

When trapped in a desperate combat situation, players can also soul project mid-match to send their soul into dynamically generated puzzle zones, hunting for clutch equipment or hidden resources to turn the tide of battle. Meanwhile, any equipment and items you gain throughout your journey continue to evolve alongside your squad, avoiding the steep gear depreciation that comes with traditional RPGs.
