UK and Singapore-based indie developer Junkfish have announced Wilderdark, a brand-new first-person survival horror title, coming to Steam in 2026. Starting 7 May, players will be able to get an early taste of the adventure with a newly released demo.
Wilderdark is a survival horror-exploration game set on an island overtaken by a mysterious organism. Players take on the role of a field operative sent by a shadowy organization, tasked with documenting the island’s ecosystem, collecting samples, and uncovering the fate of earlier expeditions — including one led by the protagonist’s own parents.
“We’ve been holding onto Wilderdark as a well-kept secret for over three years, and we’re super excited to finally shine a spotlight on it,” said Ellie Gibbs, Senior Marketing Manager at Junkfish. “After years of quietly building it behind-the-scenes, it feels amazing to share something that marks our return to the kind of horror our community has been asking for. The demo is just the beginning… step in next week and see what’s been lurking in the dark.”
Launching in 2026, Wilderdark marks Junkfish’s return to the stealth survival horror genre following their hit title Monstrum. To stay up to date with the latest news, follow the game on Bluesky, Discord, Instagram, and YouTube and wishlist Wilderdark on Steam here.
