From January 30th to February 1st, the Malaysian game development community joins the world’s largest collaborative game development event for the 16th time! Hosted by non-profit initiative GamesHQ Malaysia, Global Game Jam Malaysia welcomes participants of all ages and experience levels to create games together under a 48-hour time limit.
In 2026, Global Game Jam will surpass a major milestone, reaching over 500,000 lifetime participants worldwide. In 2025, GGJ surpassed 100,000 total games created from the jam, highlighting the scale, creativity, and sustained global impact of the event. Annually, the event attracts around 40,000 participants across 800 sites in 100 countries.
This year in Malaysia, Global Game Jam will welcome tabletop game designers alongside digital game designers at six jam sites across Malaysia. The jam sites are as follows:
- GGJ Malaysia Central – Xsolla
- GGJ Malaysia UTS, Sarawak
- GGJ Malaysia ASWARA, KL
- GGJ Malaysia UOW
- GGJ Malaysia DeskSpace Bintulu Sarawak
- GGJ Malaysia UPSI Tanjung Malim
The game jam is set to begin on 30th January, 6:30PM onward. Registration is open now via the Official Google Forms and more information can be found on the GamesHQ Facebook and Discord.
