NetEase Games has officially unwrapped its 2025 holiday season for the post-apocalyptic world of Once Human. Running through the end of the year and into 2026, the update introduces a mix of high-stakes combat and cozy community celebrations, ensuring players have plenty of reasons to log in during the winter break.
Survival of the Fittest
For those who prefer adrenaline over eggnog, the “Crimson Night Showdown” event is now live and runs until January 21. This event features three grueling new dungeons: Red Vulture Combat Zone, Esoteric Altar, and Hunting Grounds.
Each dungeon tasks players (solo or in teams) with ascending 10 floors of increasingly powerful enemies. However, survival isn’t guaranteed; a unique “Lunacy” mechanic affects both combatants and monsters, and players are strictly limited to just three Adrenaline Shots per attempt.
The Red Vulture Zone is currently accessible, with the remaining dungeons set to unlock weekly. Once the full gauntlet is available, global leaderboards will track the fastest completion times, with exclusive loot waiting for those who top the charts.
A Very Mutant Christmas
The holiday cheer has physical form this year with the arrival of a special Christmas-themed island. Central to the festivities is a massive, evolving Christmas tree. By donating gifts and resources, the community can transform the sapling into a decorated marvel.
Contributing to the tree rewards players with tickets for a festive “Whack-A-Mole” mini-game. Once fully grown, the tree becomes a crafting hub where players can create unique items to trade with friends or exchange for further rewards.
Starlight Gala
The season culminates on December 30 with the Starlight Gala, a massive in-game party. The developers have transformed game hubs with lights, trees, and festive decorations to host a virtual year-end celebration.
The Gala highlights include:
- Live Performances: A dedicated stage allows players to sing, dance, and play instruments for their peers.
- Community Milestones: A special photo spot has been set up for groups to capture memories of their 2025 journeys.
- Limited Giveaways: Exclusive holiday gifts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis for those attending the party.
