Dice N Dine: Trick or Treat – Play Some Tricks, Get A Treat

Board games, card games and tabletop games are on the rise all over the world, as we saw with the recent Spiel Essen in Germany, the biggest international tabletop event. With that being said, Malaysia does not fall behind with its own tabletop events.

Dice N Dine: Trick or Treat is the second iteration of Dice N Dine, with the first also being held at LaLaport BBCC. This time, the event returned bigger than before, held at a bigger space in the Garden Dining Food Court on Level 4, with even more activities to participate in.

First and foremost, the Stamp Rally from the previous event returned, where visitors could collect stamps by participating in event activities, before rolling for a free meal. The food provided was sponsored by the variety of stalls at the Garden Dining Food Court, and from chicken rice to ramen, there was something for everyone.

A new feature introduced at this event was an escape room activity presented by Skeleton Key Games. Visitors could bring their friends and family to solve a murder mystery inspired by the board game Mysterium, brought to life with a Malaysian twist. Many people went to test their wit and memory, going through the clues in an attempt to identify the murderer. Some managed to pass on the first go, while others needed a little nudge in the right direction.

There were also two areas dedicated to selling boardgames, from brand-new games from event partner Meeples, to second-hand games contributed by various people selling off their personal collections. A few lucky buyers managed to find the games they had been hunting for at a low price.

Aside from boardgame sales, there were also various vendor booths at the event which provided visitors with a variety of products, including tablepads, keychains, locally designed tabletop games, and even an app that brings hobbyists together. Visitors with a competitive edge could also take part in various boardgame tournaments, with Dune: Imperium – Uprising being a major highlight.

Last but not least, visitors to the event could pick up and learn a variety of tabletop games, from international titles provided by Meeples, to locally-made boardgames designed by Malaysian creators. Visitors could delve into a wide range of titles, from party games aimed at casual gatherings for friends or families, to games with depth for the serious hobbyist.

All in all, it was an eventful occasion, with the crowd seen enjoying tabletop games, and some even buying their own titles to complete their collection. If you are someone who enjoys the tabletop hobby, come down and join the next Dice N Dine, happening this 28-30 November!
