Kojima Productions Announces New Death Stranding Anime Series, ‘Death Stranding Isolations’

During today’s Disney+ Originals Preview at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Kojima Productions’ Hideo Kojima took the stage to announce Death Stranding Isolations (working title), a new animated series streaming exclusively on Disney+ in 2027. New concept art created by illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov was also revealed during the event.

The series will be produced by E&H Production, a studio founded by former MAPPA director and animator Sunghoo Park. Making his directorial debut with the series is Takayuki Sano, who previously served as an animation director for Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen and Persona 5: The Animation.

Death Stranding Isolations is a new story set in the world of Death Stranding, separate from that of the games. It is important to note that this is a separate project from the previously announced Death Stranding Mosquito, another Death Stranding animated project being helmed by Line Mileage.

The official Kojima Productions website describes Isolations as follows:

Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges walks through the continent in order to save America, the someones are also trying to deal with their isolation in their own way. An old man trying to realize salvation through ways outside of the connection advocated by Bridges. A female warrior who tries to kickstart a world of constant fighting. A boy with a grudge against Bridges. A girl who embraces loneliness.

On the precipice of the end of humanity and the world, their fates and hopes converge, as another story of Death Stranding begins. And now, comes another explosion…

The original Death Stranding videogame was released in 2019, where it has since captivated over 20 million players worldwide. Its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, launched earlier this June.
