The 2025 Pokémon TCG World Championships took place from August 15 to 17 in Anaheim, California, which saw hundreds of players duking it out for their chance at winning the $50,000 grand prize.
Malaysian TCG players Haruki Okunishi, Adriel Goh and Jason Wee managed to make their mark by placing within the top 200 in their respective categories. Okunishi in particular placed third in the TCG Juniors category, followed by Jose Cruz Galindo Resendiz from the United States in second place, and Yuya Okita from Japan in first.
Adriel Goh placed within the Top 16 in the TCG Seniors category, where Gabriel Fernandez from Brazil placed second, followed by Fuguan Liao from China in first; while Jason Wee placed within the Top 128 in the TCG Masters category, where Justin Newdorf from the United States placed second, and Riley McKay from Canada placed first.
The Pokémon World Championships will return on August 28, 2026, taking place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. More details and other announcements made during this year’s World Championships can be found here.
