After a long hiatus, the anime adaptation of the NieR: Automata video game franchise is finally resuming its second part on July 5th, 2024. The news was announced by the anime staff together with the full key visual drawn by character designer and chief animation director Jun Nakai.
The first cour was animated by A-1 Pictures and premiered back in January 2023. The original game’s creator Yoko Taro was also involved as a co-writer alongside director Ryouji Masuyama (Blend S, Hello WeGo!).
The anime staff also recently revealed that Japanese singer-songwriter LiSA will be performing the opening theme song for the second cour. The song is titled “Black Box” and you can listen to a preview in the latest promotion file released by Aniplex.
