Pixar has finally lifted the curtain on their next original movie! Last week, the studio revealed the movie’s title – ‘Onward’ – as well as some members of its voice cast, which currently includes Tom Holland (‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’), Chris Pratt (‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘The Lego Movie’), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (‘The Fairly OddParents’, ‘A Bug’s Life’), and Octavia Spencer (‘The Help’, ‘Hidden Figures’).
The movie’s previous working title was “The Untitled Pixar Film That Takes You to A Suburban Fantasy World”. Directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae, both of ‘Monsters University’ fame, the movie follows the tale of two elf brothers who embark on a quest to “spend one last magical day” with their late father.
Scanlon has revealed that the movie is based on a personal truth and was inspired by his own relationship with his brother after they lost their father at a young age. The film drew inspiration from a question he would often ask himself: “Who was my father?”
If all goes well, ‘Onward’ will be coming to theaters in March 2020.
