Award-winning independent narrative studio Salix Games has announced that Limerence, its intimate narrative title co-developed with Gameinaframe, will launch for PC on October 29, 2026.
Set entirely within a fictional smartphone interface, Limerence examines the uneasy overlap between authentically flawed human connections and AI-driven companionship. Players step into the life of Claire, a woman reeling from a deeply personal loss who turns to an AI relationship app, LiAIson, in search of comfort. There, she creates Kai—a partner tailored around her needs, desires, and emotional vulnerabilities.
What begins as a source of reassurance gradually becomes something more destabilising. As Claire’s digital relationship deepens and starts to bleed into her real life, players must navigate the consequences of a bond built not on conflict and compromise, but on complete and utter devotion.
“I wasn’t inspired to make Limerence because I’d experienced limerence myself, but because I’d seen the effect that kind of intense attachment can have on people close to me,” said Jessica Saunders, founder of Salix Games.
“Watching friends become consumed by relationships that were unhealthy, obsessive, and difficult to let go of made me want to explore those emotions through an interactive story. AI felt like a natural lens for that, because it opens up difficult questions about intimacy, dependency, and what happens when companionship can be shaped entirely around your own needs. Ultimately, Limerence is about loneliness, vulnerability, and the comfort—and danger—of believing in something because you need it to be real.”
