‘Pokemon’ Developers Announce New Mobile Game, ‘Ame no Chi Hare Onna’

Game Freak recently announced Ame no Chi Hare Onna (‘Girl After the Rain’), a new free-to-play “laundry game” coming to mobile platforms. The game is currently scheduled for a Winter 2026 release in Japan, with no confirmation of an international release at time of writing.

Ame no Chi Hare Onna is being co-developed with CHRONOGATE, with Pokémon and Pokopia director Shigeru Ohmori serving as director and producer. The game follows magical girls called Hare Onna (‘Sunshine Girls’) who are accompanied by divine messengers known as Kumorin. Together, they transform weather into magic in order to lift people’s spirits.

Most notably, the game will incorporate real-world weather data from across Japan, with real-time weather forecasts influencing various aspects of the game. The game’s first teaser trailer shows one such Hare Onna, Himawari Harewatari, voiced by Hiyori Kono, alongside her Kumorin partner Pon Arai, voiced by Yuki Nagano.

Game Freak are set to release more information about Ame no Chi Hare Onna through a livestream on September 14, as well as via their Tokyo Game Show booth from September 17 to 21.
