Orca Martian Games and Viridian Software today announced that Jester Under Pressure is coming to Steam, a fantasy visual novel set in a Filipino-inspired archipelago where a queen executes underperforming subjects by exploding their heads.
Play as Diskarte, a nonbinary jester with one job: entertaining the sovereign of the seven kingdoms, Queen Bahaghari. From puppet shows to interpretive dance, each performance puts Diskarte’s life on the line.
Between performances, Diskarte can romantically pursue Sana, the current commander of the castle’s knights, or Yugto, the cook of the high castle’s kitchen and Sana’s predecessor. They can also wade into the affairs of the Seven Heirs, the royal children competing for the throne.
Players can also learn over 60 Filipino words in Jester Under Pressure, all collected in an in-game glossary that can be viewed at any time. Explore all seven endings and be wary of the eight ways that lead to death.
Fans of Slay the Princess, Long Live the Queen, and Butterfly Soup will find familiar themes to enjoy: quick runs, a court that can kill you at any moment, and a queer cast at the center.
