The beloved ’90s shoujo manga series From Far Away will receive an anime adaptation from Studio DEEN in October 2026, happening in conjunction with the manga’s 35th anniversary. A new teaser visual, trailer, and casting details were revealed along with the announcement.

Noriyuki Abe (The Heroic Legend of Arslan) will serve as director, alongside compositor Rika Takasugi (Ōoku: The Inner Chambers), character designer Eiji Abiko (Even A Replica Can Fall In Love), and composer Takeshi Hama (Champignon Witch). Original series creator Kyoko Hikawa will supervise the anime’s production.

From Far Away was originally serialised in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from 1991 to 2002. The story follows Noriko, a young girl who is unexpectedly transported to a fantasy world, where she is rescued by a warrior named Izark. Unbeknownst to her, Izark harbours an ancient demon within him, which Noriko is able to unleash.

The anime will star Tomoyo Kurosawa (Rebecca from Cyberpunk Edgerunners) as Noriko, opposite Kentaro Kumagai (Laios from Delicious in Dungeon) as Izark. Other cast members include Yuichiro Umehara (Sniper Mask from High-Rise Invasion) as Rachef, and Eiji Takeuchi (Takefumi from The Devil is a Part-Timer) as Keimos.
