Hong Kong Comic Con, inspired by the global San Diego Comic-Con legacy, held its first edition at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on May 29th to 31st, 2026. The inaugural event turned up the heat with A-list celebrity appearances, franchises spanning Western and Asian cinema, and exclusive collectibles across the entire show floor.
Tokyo, Singapore, and Indonesia have all hosted notable Asian Comic Cons in previous years, with Tokyo hosting the most number of major international celebrities, but Hong Kong’s entrance into the arena isn’t to be taken lightly. Held over three days, its first edition was headlined by a laundry list of A-listers including Mads Mikkelsen, Giancarlo Esposito, Christopher Lloyd, Norman Reedus, Jamie Campbell Bower, Katie Leung, and Hong Kong Comic Con ambassador Louis Koo.

Throughout the long weekend, the headliner celebrities graced the Hong Kong Comic Con stage to meet fans and share stories from their most iconic roles. Some notable highlights included the opening ceremony on the first day, which featured a traditional lion dance performance and a toast with all the celebrity guests present; and later that day, a special Cyberpunk: Edgerunners panel with Giancarlo Esposito and members of the CD Projekt Red team that worked on the animated series.
Besides the panels and stage appearances, fans also had the opportunity to purchase Meet The Star passes, allowing them to meet and take photos with their favourite celebrities at the event. To add to the experience, official merchandise from their most iconic franchises could also be found throughout the hall, from Stranger Things and Star Wars, to Cyberpunk 2077 and Harry Potter.

Beyond that, the exhibition floor had a little something for every kind of collector; from limited edition figurines available for pre-order, to trading card collectors looking to get their cards graded professionally, to fans looking to meet their favourite comic book artists and illustrators. This included Malaysian artist Alan Quah who has created over 400 covers for Marvel, DC, and Lucasfilm, and Agnes Garbowska who was the illustrator behind the DC Super Hero Girls series and My Little Pony.
Hong Kong Comic Con’s own official merchandise store also featured a collection of rare celebrity-signed items on display and for sale, from franchises ranging from Marvel to Harry Potter. This was presented in collaboration with Signholic, a company founded by a private collector with over 15 years of experience in acquiring and curating signed memorabilia.

After three content-packed days, Hong Kong Comic Con came to an end with a special announcement as event ambassador Louis Koo confirmed the return of the event in 2027. With a promising first edition under their belt, it looks like Hong Kong Comic Con is building towards becoming the next big destination for pop culture fans in Asia.
