2026 Doraemon Film Opens in Malaysia on July 16

Malaysian fans of Doraemon can look forward to a new big-screen adventure this July, as GSC Movies has announced that distributor Odex will release Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil in Malaysia on July 16.

The film premiered in Japan on February 27 and quickly became a box office success, debuting at No. 1 and maintaining the top spot for six consecutive weekends. It sold over 620,000 tickets and generated nearly ¥780 million during its first three days in theaters.

Serving as the 45th traditional 2D Doraemon movie, the film is a modern remake of the classic 1983 adventure, Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil. The story takes Doraemon and his friends on an underwater journey filled with mystery, danger, and discovery beneath the ocean.

The voice cast includes Shoya Chiba as El, a soldier from the Mu Federation, and Ryo Hirohashi as the Mizunaka Buggy, one of Doraemon’s iconic gadgets. Actress Airi Taira and comedy duo Alco & Peace also contributed voice performances to the film.

The movie is directed by Tetsuo Yajima, known for his work on Pokémon films such as Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle and Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us. The screenplay was written by veteran anime writer Isao Murayama.
