The first season of THE ONE PIECE will officially release on Netflix in February 2027, with seven episodes adapting roughly 50 chapters of the original One Piece manga. Fans can expect to see a retelling of the iconic East Blue arc, covering up until Sanji’s introduction to the crew.
THE ONE PIECE is a reimagining of the One Piece anime that refreshes the series with entirely new visuals from WIT Studio, separate from the long-running One Piece anime produced by Toei Animation. The series’ key staff includes director Masashi Koizuka (Attack on Titan) and assistant director Hideaki Abe (Jujutsu Kaisen), as well as character designers/chief animation directors Kyoji Asano (Spy x Family) and Takatoshi Honda (In/Spectre).
The One Piece franchise is based on a manga by Eiichiro Oda, which was first published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. The manga was first adapted to anime in 1999, with over 1,000 episodes released thus far, following the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they explore the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as the One Piece.
The manga is widely considered to be one of the best-selling manga titles of all time, having surpassed 600 million copies in circulation worldwide. Outside of manga and anime, the One Piece franchise also encompasses a number of movies, videogames, a trading card game, and a live-action series on Netflix.
