What happens when you cross a wholesome idle-farming sim with high-stakes card-based roguelite action? Wonder no more, as that’s exactly what’s happening with the Rusty’s Retirement x Balatro crossover!
The surprise content drop adds a new Balatro-themed farm to Rusty’s Retirement, which transforms all the characters into jokers and houses into circus tents. It also adds a new mechanic where harvesting crops spawns poker cards that can be played for spare parts. These spare parts will be automatically played in a poker hand, where the joker will apply its effect to the result.
This is the second major crossover update from Rusty’s Retirement, which previously featured a team-up with Vampire Survivors. The Vampire Survivors update similarly incorporated a mechanic from the original game, where players are tasked with planting garlic to ward off bats trying to steal your crops.
The Rusty’s Retirement x Balatro crossover is now available as a free update for current owners of the game. New players can also purchase a bundle containing both the base game and the Balatro update.
