Tanzaburo Tojima Wants To Be A Kamen Rider (Tōjima Tanzaburō wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai), a manga series by Yokusaru Shibata, will be adapted into an anime series set to air sometime in 2025. Details about the series were first revealed at AnimeJapan 2025.
The series follows Tanzaburo Tojima, a man whose love for the Kamen Rider series leads him to train and exercise daily in the hopes of one day becoming a real-life Kamen Rider. Now aged 40, Tojima is just about to begin losing hope in his dream, when he suddenly becomes caught up in a high-profile crime spree involving robbers who style themselves after villains from Kamen Rider.
The original manga is created by Yosukaru Shibata, author behind Air Master and 81diver, in collaboration with Toei and Ishinomori Productions. The series debuted in Hero Inc’s Monthly Heroes, before moving to the Comiplex website in November 2020 following the closure of Monthly Heroes.
The anime will be directed by Takahiro Ikezoe, with scripts by Touko Machida, character design by Cindy H. Yamauchi, music by Teddyloid, and starring Katsuyuki Konishi as the titular Tanzaburo Tojima. While Konishi is best known to most as the voice of Kamina from Tengen Toppen Gurren Lagann, he is no stranger to the world of tokusatsu, being the voice of Tensou Sentai Goseiger’s Gosei Knight and Kamen Rider Gotchard’s Gotchardriver.
More information on the series can be found on its official website.
