Journey Together, the ninth Scarlet & Violet main line expansion to the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to release on March 28, 2025.
It will feature a returning mechanic – Trainer’s Pokémon. This mechanic will feature Pokémon being tied to their relevant Trainer. These Pokémon will often also feature mechanics or other abilities that pair well with other Pokémon of the same trainer, creating a natural synergistic effect.
This makes deckbuilding with these cards feel natural. At the same time, being restricted to specific Trainers could make things interesting as well.
This set is great for new players with the natural synergy that exists in the Trainer’s Pokémon. It is also perfect for collectors to collect these amazing blasts from the past with Trainer’s Pokémon.
Consequently, this is also the set marking the rotation that will happen on April 11. To explain briefly, rotation is an annual ‘event’ that removes a year’s worth of cards from standard play to keep competitive play fresh and balanced. This makes it one of the best times to get into the trading card game because you will have a full year ahead of you before the next rotation.
Once you get started with Pokémon TCG, you can even get ready for the Master Ball League tournament happening on May. There’s probably no better time than now to get into the game.
