Moana 2 (Nov 27, 2024)
Moana 2 reunites Moana (Auliʻi Cravalho) and demigod trickster Maui (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
While the first movie featured an original score by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the sequel will feature music by a whole crew of artists including Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear (best known for The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical), Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
Win Or Lose (Dec 6, 2024)
Directed, written and executive produced by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, Win Or Lose is Pixar’s first ever original series streaming on Disney+. The new series reveals what it feels like to be in the shoes of eight different characters — the insecure kids, their helicopter parents, even a lovesick umpire — as they prepare for a championship softball game.
Mufasa: The Lion King (Dec 20, 2024)
D23 gave us a closer look at Mufasa: The Lion King, the second live-action Lion King movie arriving this December. The trailer showcases Mufasa and Scar’s journey from young cubs to young adults, including an original song snippet from Lin-Manuel Miranda titled “I Always Wanted A Brother”.
Disney’s Snow White (March 21, 2025)
Disney’s Snow White is the latest live-action musical on Disney’s copyright renewal bankroll. Reimagining the classic 1937 film, this musical adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.
The trailer gives us a first look at the mildly disturbing CG and the questionable casting of Gal Gadot as Maleficent. At the very least, we’re excited to see Rachel Zegler (West Side Story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) do what she does best.
Dream Productions (Spring 2025)
Inspired by the world of Inside Out, Dream Productions is a Disney+ series that takes place between the first and second installments of the franchise. The series follows Dream Productions, an imaginary studio where Riley’s dreams are made every night.
Elio (June 13, 2025)
Zoe Saldaña joins the cast for Pixar’s Elio, which follows an eleven-year-old boy named Elio Solis (Kibreab) who accidentally becomes the intergalactic Ambassador of planet Earth after being beamed up to the Communiverse by aliens for making contact. Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms and survive a series of formidable trials. Saldaña will be playing the role of Elio’s aunt.
Lilo And Stitch (Summer 2025)
Lilo And Stitch is the live-action remake nobody asked for, but the same could be said about a lot of things from Disney these days. Beyond the teaser video above, it was also announced that the movie will be getting a Summer 2025 release.
TRON: Ares (Oct 10, 2025)
Another unexpected film is getting a third installment, and this time it’s TRON. The third movie, TRON: Ares, will see Jeff Bridges once again returning to the series set in the world inside a computer mainframe. Jared Leto also joins the cast as the titular Ares, a highly sophisticated AI sent to the real world for an undisclosed mission.
Fans will be delighted to know that the film’s soundtrack will be composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails.
Zootopia 2 (Nov 26, 2025)
Zootopia receives its highly anticipated sequel, as Ginnifer Goodwin’s Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman’s Nick Wilde team up for another crime-solving adventure. Not only that, Goodwin took to the stage to announce that Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan would be joining the cast as a snake named Gary.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (Dec 19, 2025)
Director James Cameron and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña took to the stage to reveal the title of the new Avatar movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash. Some concept art from the film was also shown, depicting the Ash People of the Na’vi and their otherworldly masks.
Freakier Friday (2025)
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee-Curtis reprise their roles in the sequel to Disney cult classic Freaky Friday, officially titled Freakier Friday. The movie follows another unfortunate body swap as the mother-daughter duo prepare for her daughter to marry into a new family. It was also confirmed that Manny Jacinto (Star Wars: The Acolyte, The Good Place) will be playing Lohan’s husband-to-be.
Hoppers (March 6, 2026)
Directed by Daniel Chong, creator of We Bare Bears, Hoppers follows Mabel (Piper Curda) as she hops her mind into a robot beaver and navigates the animal world. There she befriends a regal beaver named George (Bobby Moynihan) and unites the animals to save their home from an evil real-estate developer. This will also be Pixar’s 30th animated feature.
Toy Story 5 (Summer 2026)
Speaking of movies that nobody thought would be making a comeback, Pixar premiered a teaser video and concept art piece for the fifth installment of the Toy Story franchise. The artwork showcases Woody, Buzz, and the gang looking on forlornly as their child becomes an iPad kid.
“This time around, it’s toy meets tech,” said director Andrew Stanton. “It’s going to be fun, and we can’t wait for you all to see it in the summer of 2026.”
Frozen 3 (2027)
Original Frozen writer and director Jennifer Lee took to the stage to announce the third installment for Frozen. Audiences were also teased with a concept art piece, featuring Elsa and Anna riding horses through the woods.
What more, it was announced that after the release of Frozen 3, there are plans for a fourth Frozen installment. Seems like they just can’t let it go.
Incredibles 3 (Date TBA)
Looks like Incredibles will be getting its trilogy after all. Pixar announced that Incredibles 3 is officially in the works, with production being helmed by original writer and director Brad Bird.
