On the 1st of August, CRIT ESPORTS Malaysia and Asia Pacific University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in a significant move to boost the esports industry among tertiary students and the wider higher education community. Present at the MOU signing was Randy Lim, Brand and Marketing Director of CRIT Esports, and Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice Chancellor of Asia Pacific University.
The MOU signifies their collaborative effort to jointly brand and organize esports related competitions, activities, tournaments and events, and to also create awareness of the industry by leveraging on Asia Pacific University’s presence as the E-Sports Focal Point for Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia.
This ground-breaking collaboration also has both parties exploring other opportunities such as educational workshops and seminars, esports and music/arts collaborations, esports internship programmes, esports infrastructure development, and awareness activities for career opportunities.
The signing took place during the ongoing ACS (Ampro Clash Series) EDU Tour Season 1, an Esports Grassroots Development Program designed by CRIT Esports Malaysia with the goal of using competitive esports to drive the positive development of college culture within Malaysia.
The tour involves 12 teams from 6 universities, with the teams competiting on-ground at three host colleges: Sunway University, APU University, and Monash University. The league stage will transition to a playoff championship final at Paradigm Mall on the 19th and 20th of August.
