Pokémon Unite will officially shut down on March 27, 2027, according to a new announcement made on the game’s website. Starting today, players will no longer be able to purchase new Aeos gems or register for new Unite Club memberships, as the game gears up for its final months of service.
The game will release a final update on November 12, 2026, which will run until March 27, 2027, implementing features aimed at supporting Pokémon Unite players post-shutdown:
Unite Coin Exchange
During the event, players will be able to obtain special Unite coins through log-in bonuses and in-game missions. These coins can be used to redeem past in-game items, including Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion items, Unite snapshot items, and more.
Library Feature
Players who wish to save their in-game records and content will be able to do so via a new library feature, to be added during the November 12 update. Players will be required to complete a library data download in order to continue using the feature post-shutdown.
The library feature aims to include the following:
- Main menu: Players will still be able to use the main menu to customise their Trainer and Pokémon
- Unite licenses and Holowear: Players can view Pokémon that they own Unite licenses for, as well as customise their Holowear and license art
- Practice area: Players can view Holowear effects and Pokémon moves
- Closet: Players can use the Trainer fashion items that they currently own
- Unite Snapshot: Players can customise their Unite snapshot frame, stickers, fashion items, background, expression, and pose
- Items and Emblems: Players will still be able to view battle items, held items, and boost emblems, but will not be able to merge boost emblems or upgrade held items after March 23
- Achievements: Players will be able to view records of their Trainer achievements, Pokémon achievements, and tournaments from games played up to March 23
While players who complete their library data download before March 23 will be able to access their in-game records post-shutdown, it should be noted that the data is non-transferrable between devices. Support for the library feature will also be discontinued after March 23.
Pokémon Unite originally launched to a userbase of over 9 million players in 2021, which would eventually grow to 80 million as of August 2022.
