Two-person Belgian indie studio Snowberry Games has revealed its first game, Silk & Sorrow, a hand-drawn dark fantasy co-op adventure designed exclusively for two players. The game is set to launch on PC in 2027, with a Steam page now live and a demo planned for December.
In Silk & Sorrow, two children descend into the Chrysalis, a world beneath ours where everything humanity throws away ends up, and must work together to survive its darkness. The Chrysalis once gave new purpose to everything that fell into it, thanks to an enormous glowworm its inhabitants called the Sun Queen. But she is now dead, and without her light, the things she made are forgetting what they were made for.
The children arrive after her death, when almost no light remains. They soon find Glint, a small glowing grub that provides light in the dark. Glint can only be in one place at a time—one child must carry the light while the other works in darkness, forcing players to communicate, coordinate, and trust each other to survive.
Beyond keeping each other alive, the children must solve puzzles, fight the creatures that stalk the dark, and meet the strange characters who have built their lives among humanity’s discarded waste.
A Studio of Two, Making Games for Two
Snowberry Games is a team of two based in Antwerp, self-publishing their first game after two years of development. Every environment, creature, and frame of animation in Silk & Sorrow is drawn by hand.
“Glint started as a normal lantern. Then we thought, what if the thing helping these children survive was actually another creature they could care for? That small change ended up becoming one of the most important parts of the game,” said Mano, Game Designer at Snowberry Games.
