Ubisoft has released a major free anniversary update for The Rogue Prince of Persia, marking one year since the roguelite launched in August 2025. The update is available now across all platforms, introducing new modes, challenges, combat mechanics, weapons, companions and improvements to the game’s progression.
New Combat and Movement Modes
The update introduces Combat Zones, new arenas where players must survive waves of increasingly difficult enemies while progressing through each area. A new freeze and slow mechanic also gives players additional ways to control enemies during combat.
For players focused on movement and optimisation, the update adds two dedicated modes:
- Speed Run Mode — A formal time-attack mode with built-in timers for tracking movement and route optimisation.
- Parkour Mode — Focuses on wall-running, route planning and traversal skills.
Daily Runs and New Challenges
The anniversary update expands the game’s challenge systems with Daily Awakening, a rotating series of daily runs featuring different modifiers and requirements.
Players can also take on the new Nyamtur Trials, high-risk challenges scattered throughout the biomes that offer legendary loot as rewards. Additional high-difficulty puzzles and combat rooms have also been added to push players’ movement and combat abilities further.
Revised Progression and Final Palace
The update adjusts the game’s pacing and difficulty, with the early biomes shortened while overall challenges are increased.
The final Palace biome has also received a complete overhaul. Its layout and structure have been redesigned to provide a tougher endgame experience that better matches the powerful builds players can develop during a run.
New Weapon, Tool and Companions
Players can now equip the brand-new slingshot weapon, alongside a new trap-like tool designed to help players deal with and evade enemies.
The update also introduces companion animals to Ctesiphon. These companions can accompany the Prince throughout his journey and provide different passive or active abilities that support combat and exploration.
With its combination of new challenges, movement-focused modes, redesigned environments and additional gameplay systems, the first anniversary update expands The Rogue Prince of Persia around its core emphasis on fast-paced movement and traversal.
