At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard made some major revelations and announcements in celebration of 10 years of Overwatch. From new hero reveals, hero reworks, new maps and more, here’s what was revealed at the event:
New Support Hero – Doctrine & Hero 55 Reveal
Presenting Doctrine, the newest hero to join the roster and Overwatch’s 54th hero! Doctrine is a support hero inspired by vampires, who drains the life out of you with his bat-like drones. His hero trailer reveals an old friendship with Doomfist, whom was recently ousted from control of Talon.
Whatever his past is, he’s clearly dangerous, which can be seen from him being imprisoned and guarded with heavy security. Doctrine will be available to play at BlizzCon 2026, and for a limited time, at home too! However, his hero trial ends in 2 days, so hurry up!
Here’s a breakdown of his kit:

Alongside Doctrine’s reveal, Blizzard also finally revealed the look for Hero 55; both heroes are slaying it with their drip! These revelations also marks the beginning of the end for the Reign of Talon as Overwatch is entering the final chapters of the storyline.

Hero Rework – Sombra And Roadhog
As some have anticipated, Sombra and Roadhog will be receving major reworks for their playstyle and kits.
Sombra’s days as a DPS are now behind her. Now, she’s supporting her allies as a Support Hero. As revealed at BlizzCon 2026, she will still be able to hack health packs for herself and allies, but also ‘hack’ her allies to give them healing over time. Her ‘Shift’ now creates a zone that weakens foes and heals allies. Aside from that, her invisibility is still the same ultimate remains the largely the same, if not slightly better.
As for Roadhog, he gets a new ability to make him more of a team player. Taking a slight hit to his lethality, Roadhog will no longer be able to chain and kill foes. Essentially, his primary will now deal less damage, whereas his chain will no longer pull foes close enough to melee. However, Roadhog can now absorb enemy projectiles and then shoot it back at them, or give himself a jump boost.
New Map – Watchpoint: Grímsvötn

Available to play at BlizzCon along with Doctrine is the newest escort map, Watchpoint: Grímsvötn. The new battlefield is a volcano prison in Iceland and serves as Doctrine’s prison. The map also features the giant robot guard that Doomfist epically took down, as seen in the Doctrine trailer.
