Pokémon Champions Adds Z Mega Evolutions as 2027 Pokémon World Championships Head to Singapore

The Pokémon Company revealed several major updates for Pokémon Champions during the inaugural PokémonXP event and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.

The biggest announcement is the arrival of Z Mega Evolutions, which will debut in Pokémon Champions on September 9, 2026, alongside Regulation Set M-C. Three Z Mega Evolutions will be added to the game: Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Absol Z. The new regulation set will also introduce Baxcalibur and Rillaboom to battles.

Mega Lucario Z will feature a new ability called Aura Guard, which halves damage taken from contact moves. Mega Absol Z comes with Sharpness, increasing the power of its slicing moves, while Mega Garchomp Z will have Levitate, granting immunity to Ground-type moves and hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web.

The Pokémon Company also confirmed that Mega Heatran (already lovingly nicknamed “Meatran” by the Champions community) will join Pokémon Champions in a future update.
