The upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film has added several new cast members, with Deadline reporting that Sam Neill, Dichen Lachman, Yvonne Strahovski, and Uli Latukefu have joined the cast. They join previously announced cast members Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who play Zelda and Link, respectively.
According to Deadline’s sources, Lachman will portray Impa, while Strahovski will play a “queen character.” Latukefu is reportedly set to portray the legendary antagonist Ganondorf. The film will also mark the final project of the late Sam Neill, who reportedly completed filming for the project in April before his death on July 13.
The live-action The Legend of Zelda film is scheduled to open in theaters on April 30, 2027. The upcoming film represents the first major live-action adaptation of Nintendo’s long-running The Legend of Zelda franchise. Previous reports of a live-action television adaptation surfaced as early as 2015, although Nintendo subsequently denied those reports.
Meanwhile, the Zelda game franchise continues to expand, with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launching for Nintendo Switch in September 2024 and featuring Zelda as the main playable character.
