Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic have joined the cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming spinoff prequel series to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, part of Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse franchise. Nielsen and Katic join a previously announced cast that includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, and Nyasha Hatendi.
The upcoming series will star Wyatt Russell as a younger version of Lee Shaw, the character previously portrayed by Kurt Russell in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The prequel is set in 1984 and follows Lee Shaw as he infiltrates the Soviet Union in an attempt to stop them from using a Titan monster to win the Cold War.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters debuted on Apple TV+ in November 2023, introducing a story centered around Godzilla and the Titans. The series is part of Legendary Entertainment’s expanding Monsterverse, which includes Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).
The next Monsterverse film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is scheduled to open on March 26, 2027.
