Marvel Studios, the film and television arm of Marvel Entertainment, took to the stage at San Diego Comic-Con to unveil a slate of exciting announcements and updates for their upcoming films. In case you need a quick recap, we’ve got you covered:
Avengers: Endgame Encore
Avengers: Endgame will return to theatres this September 25, featuring brand-new footage that sets the stage for Avengers: Doomsday, releasing this December 18. It is currently uncertain if the re-release is limited to certain territories, or if it will be available worldwide.
Ghost Rider
How many times is Ryan Gosling going to play a stunt driver with a cool jacket? The answer, it turns out, is yes. Gosling is set to play Ghost Rider in an upcoming 2028 film, directed by Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine fame.
According to Levy, the film was born from on-set discussions between him and Gosling during the production of Star Wars: Starfighter. He shared, “As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing. And I finally said, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ So guys, we’ll see you in 2028.”
Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo hosted a star-studded panel featuring most of the cast from the upcoming film, including Rebecca Romijn, Tenoch Huerta, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Pedro Pascal, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Simu Liu, Robert Downey Jr. and more. Hayley Atwell also took the stage to confirm that Peggy Carter will make a return in Doomsday.
Ryan Reynolds also made a surprise appearance clad in a grey Deadpool suit, asking if he’d be able to join the film (“When do you start filming?”), only to be shot down by Robert Downey Jr. (“It’s in the can, bro”). Does this hint at a Deadpool appearance in Doomsday? We’ll have to wait for the film’s release this December 18 to find out.
Black Panther 3
David Jonsson was announced as the new Black Panther, son to the late T’Challa, with the upcoming Black Panther 3 following his journey as he grows up and comes of age. The film, which releases in December 2028, will once again be helmed by Ryan Coogler, director of the first two Black Panther films.
Jonsson is best known for playing Pete McVries in 2025’s The Long Walk, as well as Andy Carradine from 2024’s Alien: Romulus. He was joined on stage by Black Panther stars Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, which seemingly confirms Shuri and M’Baku’s presence in the new film.
