Wistoria: Wand and Sword Anime Officially Green-Lit for Season 3

The official website for Wistoria: Wand and Sword has confirmed that a third anime season is officially in production. The announcement was made following the broadcast of the second season’s finale on Sunday, with a teaser video revealing the continuation of the fantasy series.

To commemorate the announcement, character designer Sayaka Ono shared a special illustration celebrating the green light for Season 3.

The news comes shortly after the conclusion of Season 2, which wrapped up with its 12th episode, bringing the anime’s total episode count to 24. The season premiered in April 2026 on TBS and its affiliated networks across Japan, while Crunchyroll streamed the series worldwide alongside an English dub.

Several key staff members returned for the second season. Tatsuya Yoshihara, who directed the first season, served as general director, while Hideaki Nakano took on directing duties at Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures. Sayaka Ono once again handled character designs and chief animation direction, with Yūki Hayashi returning to compose the music. The second season also introduced Mai Nakahara to the cast as the powerful high mage Clairie Serah.

Based on the manga by Fujino Ōmori and Toshi Aoi, Wistoria: Wand and Sword follows Will Serfort, a young man determined to fulfill a promise made to his childhood friend by rising to the top of the magical world. Despite attending the prestigious Regarden Magic Academy, Will faces one major obstacle—he cannot use magic. Instead, he relies on his swordsmanship as he pursues his dream and uncovers the true potential hidden within him.

The manga began serialization in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in December 2020 and has become one of Kodansha’s notable fantasy titles. The series’ “Terminalia Arc” concluded in 2023 before receiving a follow-up epilogue chapter, while the latest collected manga volume was released in April 2025.
