Ginger Root, Luna Goami to Release Theme Songs for ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’

The opening and ending themes for Kyoto Animation’s upcoming TV anime Sparks of Tomorrow are officially set for a global digital release. The opening theme by Luna Goami will drop on July 6, followed by the ending theme from Ginger Root on July 13 across all major music streaming and download platforms.

Sparks of Tomorrow is the latest TV anime from the renowned studio Kyoto Animation. Set in an alternate-history, early 20th-century Kyoto where steam power reigns supreme, this adventure tale follows the chance meeting of a boy obsessed with the “age of electricity” and an earnest young girl living with the memory of her late mother. The series premieres on July 5, 2026, airing on Japanese television and streaming globally exclusively on Netflix.

The opening theme, “Eureka Evrika” is performed by multi-talented singer and lyricist Luna Goami, known for her vocal work on hit titles like The Apothecary Diaries and the blockbuster film Last Mile. The song is composed by Hitomi Koto, who also handles the series’ soundtrack, with lyrics written by Luna Goami herself. A snippet of the song can be heard in the series’ latest promotional trailer.

Handling the ending theme “Soarin'” is Southern California indie-pop artist Ginger Root, whose breakout track “Loretta” has amassed over 48 million streams. The song was written, composed, and arranged entirely by the artist himself, with a preview now available on YouTube. Sparks of Tomorrow marks the first official anime theme song project for both artists.

“Sometimes reality surpasses our dreams. That is exactly how I felt when I was chosen to perform the opening theme for Kyoto Animation, a studio I deeply love.” shared Luna Goami. “I immersed myself in the background materials and the script, letting Hitomi Koto’s soundscapes and the director’s vision guide my creative process. The song itself is vibrant and wondrous, yet driven by a powerful momentum.”

Ginger Root also commented, “The title of the track is “Soarin’.” Flying through the sky is something regular humans can’t actually do, right? But if you push yourself as hard as you can, don’t you feel like it’s within reach? Inspired by the themes of the anime, I chose this title to capture that exact feeling: if you chase your dreams, absolutely anything is possible! I’m just as excited as all of you to watch the premiere!”
