HoYoverse has announced that Version 2.7 of Zenless Zone Zero, titled “Champions Never Fall to the Past,” will launch on March 24. The update introduces a large-scale tournament event along with new playable characters, activities, and gameplay updates.
The update centers on the Hollow Champion competition, an unprecedented tournament hosted by the organization TOPS. Set in the futuristic city of New Eridu, the competition draws fighters from across the region seeking both prestige and rare rewards, including the coveted Porcelloy W-Engine.
New Characters
- Cissia: A member of the Metropolitan Order Division, Cissia is an Electric Attack agent who uses a Venom-based combat system. She begins battles with stacks of Venom that deal electric damage and boost her critical hit rate, which can later be unleashed through her attacks for bursts of damage.
- Nangong Yu: The captain of the Angels of Delusion joins as an Ether Stun agent. Her abilities focus on extending enemy stun durations and increasing teammates’ ability to inflict anomaly effects. Her ultimate ability boosts the entire squad’s attack power, helping set up powerful team combinations. Players who collect all members of the Angels of Delusion faction will unlock an exclusive wallpaper.
In addition to the new characters, Version 2.7 will bring back several agents, including S-Rank Ice Rupture agent Yidhari and Electric Attack agent Seed.
Gameplay Updates
During the Hollow Champion competition, players will be joined by factions such as the Cunning Hares, Sons of Calydon, and the Public Security’s Metropolitan Order Division. Among the challengers is the notorious fighter Romeul, known as the “Black Wolf,” who can deploy a powerful Corruptive Barrier that increases his resistance to critical damage while steadily draining opponents’ health.
Aside from the competition, players can take part in a themed event at the Simmer Hot Pot Restaurant in Lumina Square, assisting Blaze while enjoying a series of food-themed mini-games. Meanwhile, the Simulated Battle Trial mode will receive new enemy lineups and bonus mechanics, allowing players to compete for higher leaderboard rankings and earn rewards such as Polychromes, titles, and namecards.
