Pokémon Day is happening this February 27th, and this year’s celebrations are extra-special as they mark the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series. As always, there will be a Pokémon Presents livestream on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, where fans can tune in for the latest news and updates.
Here’s a few of my predictions for what we might see on the stream:
1. Gen 10 announcement

Pokémon has had a new generation every 3 years since 2010’s 5th generation (Pokémon Black and White), with the latest 9th generation releasing in late 2022. It has been close to 4 years since a new generation was introduced, and it would be extremely fitting to have a new generation to mark the momentous 30th anniversary of the Pokémon series.
2. Pokémon Champions release date

Pokémon Champions was announced 1 year ago as a spinoff title that focuses on multiplayer Pokémon battles in the style of the mainline games, which could potentially replace, or be an addition to, the competitive Pokémon Video Game Championship.
If the company wishes to feature Pokémon Champions in this year’s world championships, which happens in late August, they will have to release this game sooner rather than later.
3. Pokémon Gen 5 remake

I believe a Pokémon Gen 5 remake is on the horizon. Last year, The Pokémon Trading Card Game released a set that was solely based on the 5th generation, which feels like an effort to promote Gen 5 to both new and old players. Now would also be the perfect time to release a new remake, as the last one was released back in 2021.
6. New Pokémon movie

The last Pokémon movie was released in Japanese theaters back in 2020, which was almost 6 years ago. The 30th anniversary feels like a massive occasion that would warrant a new movie screening. Plus, I’d like to see the cast from Pokémon Horizons shine on the big screen for the very first time.
7. Pokémon 30th Anniversary TCG

I believe they would announce a 30th Anniversary TCG set, similar to the previous 25th Anniversary set, with reprints of iconic cards for collectors and players to enjoy. Perhaps they would even reintroduce old mechanics from the past, much like the ACE SPEC cards that are being actively played right now.
