During the recent Umamusume: Pretty Derby 5th anniversary livestream, fans were surprised by the reveal of eight new characters, set to be added to the Japanese version of the game. Arguably one of the biggest announcements of the night was the addition of Forever Young, voiced by Shuri Miyumi.
Miyumi is a relative newcomer to voice acting, previously known for voicing Nagisa Tsukimiyama from D4DJ Groovy Mix. Her character, Forever Young, is based on a currently-active Japanese racehorse who has made remarkable strides in the horse racing scene, being the first Japanese horse to win the Breeders Cup Classic, and the first-ever horse to wih the Saudi Cup two years in a row.
However, that’s not the only thing that makes her addition notable. The real-world Forever Young was not only born on the same day as Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s anniversary (February 24), but also happens to be owned by Susumu Fujita, the president of CyberAgent – a.k.a. the parent company of Umamusume developers Cygames.
Other racehorses slated to be added to Umamusume: Pretty Derby include Marche Lorraine, Epiphaneia, Logotype, Victoire Pisa, Rose Kingdom and Rulership. The American-born racehorse Casino Drive is also set to appear as an NPC in a new training scenario.
