The Pokémon Company International revealed a slew of new content during today’s Pokémon Presents livestream, including upcoming games, a new animated series, and additions to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Here’s the biggest highlights from the livestream:
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Pokémon Legends: Z-A will feature a day-night gameplay cycle, allowing players to explore both sides of Lumiose City. By day, players can explore urban wild zones, encountering Alpha Pokémon—larger, more powerful variants with red-glowing eyes. At night, they can rise through the ranks in the Z-A Royale battle system, culminating in high-stakes matches against powerful opponents.
Upon arriving in Lumiose City, Urbain or Taunie will invite players to join Team MZ, a crew tasked with investigating a strange phenomenon known as Mega Evolutions. Together, they will battle and calm a variety of Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon to earn Mega Stones. One such Mega Evolution, Mega Dragonite, was also revealed.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches 16 October 2025 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Champions
In Pokémon Champions, players will build teams through two recruitment systems: Trial Recruitment, which allows temporary access to Pokémon for testing strategies; and Permanent Recruitment, which uses Victory Points (VP) earned from gameplay to add and customize team members. VP can also enhance a Pokémon’s stats and Abilities.
Three core battle formats will be available in both Single and Double Battle styles:
- Ranked Battles – Global matchmaking with tiered rankings.
- Casual Battles – Unranked matches for team testing.
- Private Battles – Matches against friends or family.
Pokémon Champions is slated for release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices.
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu
Pokémon will be releasing a new stop-motion animated series collaboration with Aardman, which brings a comedic and heartfelt look into the Pokémon world. Titled Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, the series will release in 2027.
Pokémon Friends
Available now on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS, and Android, Pokémon Friends is a puzzle game developed with Wonderfy Inc. Players solve brainteasers to earn yarn, which can be used to craft plush Pokémon in the in-game “Plush-O-Matic.” These plush can be gifted to residents of Think Town through quests or used to decorate customisable rooms with furniture and wallpaper.
The game features:
- Over 1,200 puzzles designed to promote critical thinking
- Up to 150 collectible plush Pokémon
- Daily progress tracking via stamps
- Five separate save files for shared family play
