The 真的相识过 Because of You Ka Kui × Re:spect Tribute Concert was successfully held tonight at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, attracting many Beyond fans and music lovers who came together to honour the musical legacy and creative spirit of the legendary Hong Kong band’s frontman, Wong Ka Kui.
The audience in attendance were the first in the world to watch the theatrical release version of 真的相识过 Because of You Ka Kui. This version was specially completed for the official cinema release and presented according to theatrical standards, bringing together the film’s visuals, sound, pacing, and precious content in a format designed for the big screen.
In addition to the special screening of the extended film version featuring exclusive additional footage, the event also featured a live tribute performance by The Re:spect Band formed by rock musicians from Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The line-up was especially meaningful, bringing together Sito 司徒 and Joseph 洪喜乐 from Malaysian rock band Alienoid 異種, as well as Jimmy Mak 老占, Kim Poon 潘先丽, Joshua 洪杨杨 from Hong Kong, who share a deep connection with Beyond’s musical legacy, together with Jesper Chan 陈钧俊, founder of Re:spect 紙談音樂. Together, they paid tribute to Wong Ka Kui through music.
Sito 司徒, who was previously a guest performer at Beyond’s 1996 Malaysia concert and Yip Sai Wing’s 引以为荣 concert in Malaysia, shared that it was especially rare and meaningful this year to gather with music friends from Hong Kong and Malaysia to honour Wong Ka Kui through music and memories. He said that being a part of performances and creating music related to 真的相识过 Because of You Ka Kui was a deeply meaningful act of tribute and continuation.
The performance setlist for the evening included 《光辉岁月》，《You Are The Only One》,《喜欢你》,《曾是拥有》,《真的相识过》,《别了春和夏》and《Amani》, taking audiences on a journey through Beyond’s classics from different eras and the creative spirit behind their music. The audience responded enthusiastically, with singalongs echoing throughout the venue.
During the encore, the band specially performed a Blues version of 《真的爱你》, followed by a medley of 《不再犹豫》,《河边有只羊》and《海阔天空》, bringing the atmosphere to its peak.

真的相识过 Because of You Ka Kui presents the most authentic Wong Ka Kui, a man with youthful determination and sincerity, who always insisted on connecting with the world through music.
The film also includes many precious and previously unseen materials, including live Beyond performance footage, the story behind the creation of 《二楼后座》, a full record of the band’s journey to Kenya, and Ka Kui’s unreleased works, allowing audiences to gain a deeper understanding of the inner world of this legendary musician.
“I feel that I have not yet reached my limit; I can still go further.”
These words left behind by Ka Kui are a true reflection of his lifelong pursuit of music and ideals. Through changing seasons and difficult paths, love remains unchanged; friendship and spirit live on. This is a tribute to Ka Kui.
Although tonight’s special screening and tribute concert have successfully concluded, this is not the end, but the beginning of the film’s official release. Malaysia will see the first official theatrical release of 真的相识过 Because of You Ka Kui in the world, with the film opening in cinemas nationwide on 11 June 2026.
